US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds slipped back into negative territory on Tuesday, snapping a brief run of strong inflows that had marked the opening days of 2026.

According to data from SoSoValue, Bitcoin ETFs recorded $243 million in net outflows on Tuesday, marking the first day of negative aggregate flows this year.

The reversal followed a powerful start to the year, during which the products attracted more than $1.16 billion in net inflows across the first two trading sessions.

Fidelity and Grayscale drive outflows

The pullback was led by Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), which saw $312.24 million exit the fund on Tuesday.

Grayscale’s flagship Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) also recorded notable withdrawals, with $83.07 million in net outflows. Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust saw a further $32.73 million leave the product.

Funds managed by Ark & 21Shares and VanEck also posted net outflows during the session, contributing to the overall negative total for the day.

The selling pressure was partially offset by continued demand for BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which took in $228.66 million on Tuesday.

IBIT was the only US spot bitcoin ETF to record net inflows during the session.

Despite the single-day reversal, IBIT remains the standout performer early in the year.

Across the first three trading days of 2026, the fund has attracted a cumulative $888 million in net inflows, underscoring its dominant position in the market.

Ethereum and altcoin ETFs buck the trend

While Bitcoin ETFs saw redemptions, other crypto-linked products continued to attract capital.

US spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $114.7 million in net inflows on Tuesday, even as some products from Grayscale and Fidelity experienced outflows.

Altcoin-focused ETFs also remained in positive territory.

XRP ETFs added $19 million in net inflows, while Solana ETFs saw $9 million flow into the products, highlighting continued investor interest beyond Bitcoin despite broader market volatility.

Explosive start still shapes 2026 narrative

Tuesday’s outflows came after what had been an exceptionally strong opening to the year for Bitcoin ETFs.

In the first two trading days of 2026 alone, US spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in more than $1.2 billion in net inflows, placing the sector on pace for a potentially record-setting year if momentum resumes.

“The spot Bitcoin ETFs are coming into 2026 like a lion,” said Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas on Tuesday.

Balchunas noted that inflows exceeded $1.2 billion in just two days, with nearly all funds participating.

The WisdomTree Bitcoin Fund was the lone exception, he said.

He added that maintaining this pace would imply annual inflows of roughly $150 billion, or about 600% more than total inflows recorded in 2025.

“Told ya’ll if they can take in $22 billion when it’s raining, imagine when the sun is shining,” Balchunas said.

US spot bitcoin ETFs attracted $21.4 billion in net inflows in 2025, down from $35.2 billion in 2024.

BlackRock’s IBIT accounted for the majority of last year’s inflows.

Momentum accelerated sharply on Monday, when bitcoin ETFs logged $697 million in net inflows — the largest single-day intake in three months — as Bitcoin prices reclaimed and held above the $90,000 level following a volatile end to 2025.

Adding to the sector’s momentum, Morgan Stanley disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday that it plans to launch Bitcoin and Solana ETFs.

According to the filing, the proposed Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust will be a passive vehicle designed to track bitcoin’s spot price and will not employ leverage or derivatives.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs faced $1.2B in weekly outflows as Bitcoin fell to a four-month low.

BlackRock, Fidelity, and Grayscale saw major redemptions amid Bitcoin’s 10% weekly drop.

Schwab says crypto interest is rising, with clients holding 20% of US crypto ETPs.

The United States’ spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) faced a challenging week, with over $1.2 billion in total outflows as Bitcoin prices tumbled.

Despite the decline in institutional inflows, Charles Schwab says investor engagement with crypto-related products is rising, reflecting a growing interest among retail and institutional clients in digital assets.

Heavy outflows hit Bitcoin ETFs

Data from SoSoValue shows that the eleven US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs collectively recorded $366.6 million in outflows on Friday, closing out a negative week for both the products and the broader cryptocurrency market.

The largest withdrawal came from BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which lost $268.6 million in a single day.

Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) also saw substantial redemptions totaling $67.2 million, while Grayscale’s GBTC experienced $25 million in outflows. A smaller withdrawal was reported from the Valkyrie Bitcoin ETF, while the remaining funds saw no activity on Friday.

In total, spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US witnessed $1.22 billion in outflows over the past week, with only one day—Tuesday—showing minor inflows.

The downturn coincided with sharp declines in Bitcoin’s price, which fell from above $115,000 on Monday to just below $104,000 on Friday, marking a four-month low.

The steep decline highlights how sensitive institutional products remain to Bitcoin’s price movements, with ETF investors appearing to pull back amid growing market uncertainty.

Charles Schwab reports rising engagement in crypto products

While ETF redemptions signal cooling sentiment among some investors, Charles Schwab remains optimistic about the long-term potential of digital asset investment products.

Speaking on CNBC, CEO Rick Wurster revealed that Schwab’s clients now hold 20% of all crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) in the US.

He added that interest in crypto has grown substantially over the past year, with visits to the company’s crypto-related webpages up 90%.

“Crypto ETPs have been very active,” Wurster said, emphasizing that the topic continues to draw high engagement from investors.

ETF analyst Nate Geraci noted that Schwab’s large brokerage platform positions it well to capture future demand.

The firm already offers crypto ETFs and Bitcoin futures and plans to launch spot crypto trading for clients in 2026, signaling a long-term commitment to the sector even amid short-term volatility.

Bitcoin faces rare October downturn

October, historically one of Bitcoin’s strongest months, has so far delivered disappointing results.

Data from CoinGlass shows that Bitcoin has gained in ten of the past twelve Octobers, but this year, the asset is down 6% month-to-date.

Despite the slump, some market analysts remain hopeful that the trend of “Uptober” could return in the second half of the month.

Many point to the potential for Federal Reserve rate cuts later this year as a catalyst that could reignite demand for risk assets, including Bitcoin.

For now, however, the combination of ETF outflows, price pressure, and macroeconomic uncertainty has weighed heavily on crypto sentiment—leaving investors to watch whether the coming weeks can reverse October’s red start.

Solana has eight ETF applications pending.

XRP follows with seven ETF applications.

Grayscale seeks to convert five trusts into ETFs.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) now faces one of its heaviest backlogs in the digital asset space, with at least 92 cryptocurrency exchange-traded product applications awaiting review.

According to an expert, Solana (SOL) and XRP (XRP) lead the wave of filings, each with multiple applications under consideration.

The trend highlights growing institutional demand for altcoin exposure through regulated investment vehicles, even as the SEC continues to weigh its stance on crypto products.

The pace of new filings has accelerated in recent months, suggesting the market is preparing for a broader expansion of crypto ETFs.

Solana and XRP lead with 15 ETF applications

Solana and XRP have emerged as the frontrunners among altcoins in ETF interest.

Analyst James Seyffart reported that Solana currently has eight ETF applications pending, while XRP has seven.

Both tokens rank among the most actively pursued crypto assets after Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).

Analyst Eric Balchunas noted on April 21 that 72 crypto-related ETFs were already awaiting SEC review at that time.

With the figure now at 92, a further 20 applications have been added in just four months, pointing to rising momentum across the industry.

The filings include proposals offering exposure not only to Solana and XRP but also to other altcoins, alongside three ETFs linked to Bitcoin and Ether.

Grayscale and 21Shares push for Ether staking ETFs

Two of the largest players in the digital asset space, Grayscale and 21Shares, are also part of the current SEC queue. Both are seeking approval for Ether staking ETFs.

Earlier this month, the SEC clarified that some liquid staking activities fall outside its regulatory scope, a development that may impact how such filings are assessed.

Grayscale is also pursuing a major conversion of five of its existing trusts into ETFs.

These include three publicly traded funds and two private trusts, covering exposure to Litecoin, Solana, Dogecoin, XRP, and Avalanche.

Such conversions would expand ETF access across a broader set of cryptocurrencies if approved.

Market analysts expect ETF approval to drive altcoin rally

The potential impact of SEC decisions on altcoin markets remains a key focus for traders.

Analysts at Bitfinex observed on Monday that a broader rally among altcoins is unlikely until more crypto ETFs gain approval.

This view underscores the role regulatory clarity could play in shaping institutional and retail participation in the sector.

Meanwhile, market commentators such as NovaDius Wealth Management president Nate Geraci have pointed to the sheer volume of filings as evidence of what they call “crypto ETF floodgates about to open soon”.

BlackRock dominates with $71.40 billion ETF inflows

While new applications continue to pile up, global asset manager BlackRock has already secured a commanding lead in the crypto ETF category.

Its iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) has attracted net inflows of $58.28 billion since launch.

Its iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) has accumulated $13.12 billion in inflows, according to data from Farside Investors.

BlackRock’s IBIT fund now holds more than 3% of Bitcoin’s total circulating supply. A Wednesday report also indicated that ETHA may soon surpass Coinbase as the largest single holder of Ether.

Notably, IBIT now generates more annual fee revenue for BlackRock than its flagship S&P fund, iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV).

This is due to the fee structure, with IBIT carrying an expense ratio of 0.25%, compared to just 0.03% for IVV.

High-profile investors include Animoca Brands, ParaFi Capital, and Metaplanet’s CEO.

Australian digital asset manager DigitalX has raised A$20.7 million (US$13.5 million) in a fresh round of strategic funding, deepening its commitment to a “Bitcoin-first” approach.

The ASX-listed firm plans to use the funds to grow its Bitcoin treasury, with backing from heavyweight crypto investors like Animoca Brands, UTXO Management, and ParaFi Capital.

DigitalX says it plans to allocate about AU$19.7 million (US$12.8 million) from its recent raise toward boosting its Bitcoin holdings, with the rest going toward offer expenses and general operations.

In addition to the capital raise, DigitalX has bolstered its strategic advisory board with the appointments of Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, and Hervé Larren, CEO of Airvey.io.

Both bring deep experience in crypto and digital assets, and their involvement is expected to offer valuable insight into Bitcoin strategy and investor relations.

The move further cements DigitalX’s position as a key player in driving institutional crypto adoption in Australia.

Bitcoin-first Treasury approach

DigitalX’s latest move aligns with the playbooks of global Bitcoin champions like MicroStrategy and Japan’s Metaplanet, both known for aggressively stacking Bitcoin.

Since debuting on the ASX in 2014 as a Bitcoin miner, DigitalX has kept Bitcoin as a core asset on its balance sheet.

Right now, it holds 65 BTC directly, along with 881,000 units of its own Bitcoin ETF (BTXX), which translates to roughly 193 BTC.

Altogether, that adds up to a Bitcoin position worth around US$43.3 million.

The placement, priced at A$0.074 (US$0.048) per share and bundled with attached warrants, drew strong interest from both institutional and strategic investors.

Notably, Simon Gerovich, the CEO of Tokyo-listed Metaplanet took part in the round personally.

The support from prominent global crypto players highlights rising institutional confidence in Bitcoin as a long-term store of value and points to a broader shift toward regulated, transparent ways to gain exposure to digital assets.

Credibility boost

Interim CEO Demetrios Christou called the investment a “significant milestone,” noting that both the capital and the backing from globally respected Bitcoin advocates will help DigitalX stay focused on its strategy and create long-term value for shareholders.

Meanwhile, Yat Siu described Bitcoin as “the reserve asset of Web3 digital gold,” and pointed to DigitalX as one of the best ways for Australian investors to gain exposure to it.

With this latest funding round, DigitalX isn’t just adding to its Bitcoin holdings, it’s also reinforcing its role as a regulated, ASX-listed bridge for both institutional and retail investors looking to tap into the Bitcoin space.

Geoffrey Kendrick pointed to several factors driving the bullish momentum.

As of Thursday, Bitcoin was trading just shy of the $100,000 mark.

Software company MicroStrategy has ramped up its Bitcoin purchases.

Bitcoin’s relentless rally is prompting some analysts to revise their boldest predictions.

Standard Chartered’s Geoffrey Kendrick, a well-known Bitcoin bull, has now admitted that his earlier forecast of $120,000 for the world’s largest cryptocurrency might be too conservative.

In an email shared with clients on Thursday, Kendrick said, “I apologise that my USD120k Q2 target may be too low,” acknowledging the accelerating momentum in Bitcoin’s price.

As of Thursday, Bitcoin was trading just shy of the $100,000 mark—up over 3% to $99,293, after briefly touching $99,897.

Kendrick, who heads digital asset research at Standard Chartered, originally predicted last month that Bitcoin would reach a record high of $120,000 in the second quarter of 2025.

His thesis was built on two major trends: a strategic shift of capital away from US assets and increasing accumulation of bitcoin by institutional “whales”—major holders with large buying power.

Now, he believes those estimates may underestimate Bitcoin’s real potential.

“The dominant story for Bitcoin has changed again,” Kendrick noted. “It is now all about flows. And flows are coming in many forms.”

Kendrick pointed to several factors driving the bullish momentum, including surging institutional investment via US spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Over the past three weeks alone, Bitcoin ETFs have seen $5.3 billion in inflows, according to his analysis.

This suggests that mainstream financial players are steadily increasing their exposure to digital assets.

He also highlighted big-ticket moves by institutional investors.

Software company MicroStrategy has ramped up its Bitcoin purchases, effectively acting as a proxy stock for Bitcoin exposure.

Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund has taken a position in BlackRock’s IBIT bitcoin ETF, and even the Swiss National Bank has reportedly invested in MicroStrategy shares.

With Bitcoin price predictions now being revised upward and institutional capital flowing in at record levels, Kendrick’s new outlook signals a potentially explosive summer for crypto markets.

Nasdaq filed two ETF 19b-4 forms for CoinShares with the SEC, seeking the approval of a Litecoin and XRP ETF

Bloomberg ETF analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas believe that a Litecoin ETF has a 90% chance of being approved in 2025.

Taking to X, Seyffart said: “@EricBalchunas and I took a look at the filings for spot crypto ETFs. We’re putting out relatively high odds of approval across the board. Mainly focused on Litecoin, Solana, XRP, and Dogecoin for now.”

In a table, Seyffart notes that a Dogecoin ETF has a 75% chance of approval, a Solana ETF has a 70% chance, and an XRP ETF has a 65% approval rating.

Seyffart added that it’s unlikely the market will see an XRP ETF until the whole Ripple/XRP/SEC case is settled, finished, or has some sort of outcome.

“The SEC needs to untangle that mess,” he said.

Nasdaq files ETF forms

The news comes as Nasdaq filed two 19b-4 forms with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on behalf of CoinShares for Litecoin and XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Nasdaq is seeking approval to list and trade a CoinShares Litecoin ETF and XRP ETF following CoinShares S-1 filings submission in January. Crypto ETFs have gained in popularity since the US spot Bitcoin ETFs launched last January.

CoinShares is hoping to take advantage of this by expanding its presence into the US market.

The news follows that of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe), which submitted four 19b-4 forms to the SEC last week. On behalf of 21Shares, Bitwise, Canary Capital, and WisdomTree, Cboe filed the forms for XRP ETFs.

In October, Bitwise filed an S-1 form for an XRP ETF with the SEC. Similarly, Canary Capital filed for an XRP ETF last year, reflecting its broader strategy to bring multiple crypto ETFs to the market.

A push for more crypto ETFs

With the launch of US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, more are looking to capitalize on the introduction of other crypto ETFs into the market.

Back in October, Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple’s CEO, indicated that an XRP ETF was “inevitable.” At the time, he highlighted there was increased demand from both institutional and retail investors to gain exposure to digital assets.

To date, the total net inflow of Bitcoin ETFs is more than $40 billion since their approval, according to SoSoValue data.

Last July, Cboe filed two Solana ETFs with the SEC. The deadline for the SEC to provide a decision is expected next month.

Nasdaq also filed a 19b-4 form for a Litecoin ETF for Canary Capital in January. All of this is a broader push from several organizations keen to see different crypto ETFs in light of a favorable SEC following President Donald Trump’s inauguration last month.

BTC breaks above $54k as IBIT trades $1 billion ETF shares

In the ETF market, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ($IBIT) traded over $1 billion and analysts are saying the momentum is set to fuel further gains for BTC price. Bloomberg ETF analyst shared that the performance ranked $IBIT 11th amongst all ETFs.

“MILESTONE $IBIT has traded $1b worth of shares today so far.. which ranks it 11th among all ETFs (Top 0.3%) and Top 25 among stocks. Insane number for newbie ETF (esp one w ten competitors). $1b/day is big boy level volume, enough for (even big) institutional consideration,” Balchunas posted on X.

According to entrepreneur and investor Anthony Pompliano, “Bitcoin is a runaway train with no brakes for as long as ETF inflows dwarf the bitcoin produced by the network.”

Bitcoin’s rally coincided with a stellar performance by spot Bitcoin ETFs, with BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ($IBIT) outpacing the rest.
