In the past few days, events around the two trading partners have injected significant uncertainty into global risk assets.

President Donald Trump’s renewed threats of 100% tariffs on Chinese technology exports reverberated through financial corridors.

It prompted a broad sell-off that began on October 10 and persists today.

This policy escalation, aimed at curbing China’s dominance in rare earth minerals and semiconductors, has amplified fears of retaliatory measures, inflationary pressures, and supply chain disruption.

Together, these factors have disproportionately impacted high-volatility sectors like crypto.

Adding to the macro headwinds, on top of the market witnessing over $19 billion in liquidations across leveraged positions last Friday, is the continued profit taking.

Low liquidity during Asian trading hours today has exacerbated the rot.

Institutional sentiment souring as US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs record significant net outflows adds to the weakness.

Analysts note that while the Federal Reserve’s anticipated rate cut at the October 28-29 FOMC meeting could provide a counterbalance, short-term volatility remains elevated due to the absence of positive catalysts.

Crypto ETF hype around major altcoins has also cooled.

Overall, the total crypto market capitalisation has contracted by 4.6% to $3.58 trillion.

The US-China rhetoric and other factors risk pushing BTC lower. Immediate support is likely in the $103,000-$100,000 zone.

Ethereum, XRP, and SOL dip below key levels

As Bitcoin struggles below $110k, Ethereum has fared no better.

The top altcoin has plummeted 3.5% to $3,780 in the past 24 hours.

That means the Ethereum price is well below the $4,000 support level.

This dip has cascaded across the broader altcoin market.

Weakness in ETH also reflects in Solana, XRP and BNB among other altcoins.

XRP’s price hovers below the critical $3.00 mark as sellers push bulls to lows of $2.24.

Meanwhile,  Solana has cratered to below $200 to trade around $178 as bears target further strengthening.

The acquisition follows a pattern of consistent buying, with Strategy adding 850 BTC on September 22, 2025, and 525 BTC on September 15, 2025, at an average price of $114,562 per BTC.

Michael Saylor, the Executive Chairman, has a strategy of leveraging equity and debt financing to accumulate BTC which has solidified the company’s role as a Bitcoin-backed treasury model.

“Despite sizable ETF outflows, particularly on Friday, spot managed to hold sideways through the weekend. This points to quarter-end basis unwinds as a key driver of redemptions, with markets absorbing the selling pressure more smoothly than expected,” QCP wrote. “With spot rebounding, this week’s ETF flows could set the tone for institutional demand heading into a seasonally bullish month.”

Strategy’s consistent buying is seen as a bullish signal, with potential U.S. policies on digital assets influencing long-term price stability.

The benchmark digital asset has slipped more than 3% to drop to lows of $110,956 across major exchanges, with BTC struggling as the bounce that followed Powell’s comments on cryptocurrency quickly fades.

Bitcoin’s dominance was also falling sharply, down to around 57%.

Bitcoin extends dip to $111k

Cryptocurrencies spiked on Friday as risk assets exploded amid comments by Powell that the central bank could consider cutting rates sooner.

However, the brief rally that followed the Jackson Hole economic symposium has since swiftly unravelled, with Bitcoin plummeting to touch lows of $110k.

On Aug. 22, BTC saw an intraday peak of $117k – up from lows of $113k earlier in the day.

According to QCP, the downturn to current prices comes as an early whale offloaded a substantial $2.7 billion in BTC.

This rapid sell-off has accelerated a dip in BTC dominance, which hovers around 57%.

Bitcoin’s long-term trajectory remains largely bullish, and a bounce to the all-time high above $124k is not an impossibility.

However, analysts at Glassnode are pointing to a short-term downside arc.

Increased selling could be bad news for bulls as a breakdown below $110k could ensue.

But despite this outlook, analysts at QCP Group maintain that Bitcoin is bullish.

The analysts say that despite the current sell-off, buyers can easily absorb the pressure as happened in July.

With BTC dominance slipping, it is Ethereum that may benefit, the analysts said.

“BTC dominance slipped from 60% to 57%. Still above the sub-50% levels of 2021, but enough to fuel speculation that whales expect $ETH to outperform, especially if ETH staking ETFs secure approval later this year,” QCP noted.

Bitcoin price currently hovers around $111,200, bouncing off lows last seen in early July. Investors will be watching that $110k level as well as broader market conditions.

Bitcoin (BTC) price hovers around $115,300 in early trading on August 19, 2025, but despite the pullback that includes a dip to lows of $114k, the benchmark digital asset is witnessing robust accumulation.

While on-chain data suggests whales are aggressively buying, technical analyses signal bullish support above the psychological $110k.

Notably, BTC price reached its all-time peak above $124k on Aug. 14.

Whales scoop Bitcoin on the cheap

As noted, on-chain data shows bulls have used the sharp price decline in the past few days to buy Bitcoin.

The overall trend, as analysts from CryptoQuant show, is that accumulation is on the up.

Crypto analyst Axel Adler Jr notes in a post on X that there’s been a significant shift in Bitcoin’s exchange netflow.

Per the CryptoQuant on-chain and macro analyst, the 30-day moving average of net outflow has jumped from -1.7K to -3.4k Bitcoin per day, which suggests that coins are exiting centralised exchanges at an accelerated rate compared to sales.

This accumulation, against a backdrop of Bitcoin’s price drop to lows of $114k, speaks to bulls’ strong long-term conviction.

In any case, a divergence between net outflows and price decline has historically pointed to a bullish reversal.

“Against the backdrop of price decline, we see strengthening net outflow: the Exchange Netflow-30D moving average became more negative from -1.7K to -3.4K BTC/day. This means coins on CEX exchanges are being bought faster than they are being sold. Such a shift in a falling market is a bullish divergence, where participants are using the drawdown to buy back coins,” Adler Jr. said.

Santiment’s onchain analytics also point to this trend. Notably, top whales and sharks have continued to accumulate even amid the mild dip.

With BTC prices dropping more than 6% since its peak, wallets within the 10-10K range have scooped more than 20,061 BTC.

“When we zoom out, this same group of key stakeholders has added 225,320 Bitcoin going back to March 22nd. There has been notable correlation between this group’s holdings and the direction of future price movement for the majority of the past five years,” Santiment noted.

What’s the Bitcoin price outlook?

Bitcoin’s price technical picture shows BTC lies within the broad range of support at $112k and resistance at $120k.

Although panic selling in recent weeks has some holders in a downbeat mood, CryptoQuant says they may be dumping at a loss.

“This loss-selling event becomes a critical barometer of market health. If absorbed quickly, it could mirror past resets that fueled strong rebounds. If not, it risks signalling a momentum breakdown,” noted crypto analyst Kerem.

With on-chain data indicating strong accumulation and technical indicators supporting a bullish outlook, BTC remains largely bullish.

Daily trading volume rose 28% to over $8.2 billion, reflecting the level of panic selling that XRP has seen in the past 24 hours.

As noted, Ripple’s XRP dipped amid Bitcoin’s notable drop to lows near $114k.

Increased whale selling, in recent weeks, from long-dormant coins, combined with overall macroeconomic headwinds, to scattered bulls’ plans.

Per Coinglass data, these declines have led to total liquidations across the crypto market jumping 79% to more than $758 million in 24 hours.

ETH led with over $229 million in leveraged positions wiped out, and BTC saw $179 million in forced exits.

On the other hand, XRP accounted for $41 million, with most of these long positions totalling over $40 million.

A surge in liquidations, particularly, could fade bullish sentiment and allow bears to target lower levels.

The declining open interest, which fell 10% to $7.77 billion, hints at the reduced speculative activity.

Ripple price prediction

XRP’s technical outlook suggests price is revisiting a key support area, highlighted on the chart below.

On the daily chart, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 48 after retreating from overbought levels, and its dip suggests a potential continuation of the bearish momentum.

Furthermore, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) shows a bearish crossover.

The histogram bars forming below the zero line indicate weakening momentum as bears strengthen.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell sharply on Friday, touching lows near the $115,000 mark, as analysts pointed to a sell-off by a long-dormant Bitcoin whale.

Bitcoin, which recently hit an intraday high of $123,000, gave up gains to trade as low as $114,759 — down 3% over 24 hours.

The move marked its lowest level in two weeks, last seen on July 10, when BTC surged from $110,000.

Why did the Bitcoin price fall sharply today?

Bitcoin, which had recently consolidated in the $117,000–$118,000 range as altcoins outperformed, broke below key support levels to hit a multi-week low amid heavy selling pressure.

The decline follows on-chain activity suggesting that a long-dormant wallet, active for the first time in 14 years, moved 80,000 BTC to exchanges through Galaxy Digital.

Data indicates the holdings may have been offloaded in the past 24 hours.

“Note that Galaxy Digital has deposited over 10,000 $BTC ($1.18B) to exchanges in the past 8 hours! The 10,000+ $BTC comes from the Bitcoin OG holding 80,009 $BTC($9.68B),” Lookonchain posted on X.

Lookonchain then shared an update showing over 30k BTC sent to exchanges, including Binance, OKX and Bybit. Currently, Galaxy has transferred over 30k BTC to exchanges.

Also notably, Galaxy withdrew $1.15 billion USDT from exchanges after the BTC deposits.

Over $518 million liquidated

Per details on Coinglass, the BTC sell-off has erased over $518 million in leveraged positions within the last 24 hours.

Most of these are longs at over $380 million, with more than $135 million of it in bullish bets on BTC wiped out.

The whale’s activity is thus likely to have an impact, largely panic selling that could further push prices lower.

Liquidations mounting will see more longs taken out, with some like AguilaTrades already seeing millions in potential profits disappear.

What’s next for the Bitcoin price?

According to crypto analyst Captain Faibik, while bulls may yet retain the upper hand, a breakdown is likely.

The analyst points to a falling wedge pattern and says a daily close below $113k could confirm this negative outlook.

However, if BTC holds steady and moves toward $118k, a decline in selling pressure may allow buyers to retest key supply zone areas.

The latest surge comes amid reports of significant accumulation by the project team, with millions of dollars’ worth of 1INCH tokens reportedly purchased.

The development has reduced the circulating supply and reinforced investor confidence, helping fuel the current bullish momentum.

However, the altcoin’s gains align with Bitcoin’s retreat.

Profit taking has pushed BTC down from above $122k to around $117k, suggesting a likely downturn.

Nonetheless, analysts are bullish that a reversal will give bulls another lift.

“Bitcoin’s retracement is healthy: it slows leverage, resets funding rates and implied volatility, and moves open interest from speculative upside calls into fresh strikes and maturities, giving the next leg of the bull market a sturdier foundation,” said Pierre Rochard, CEO of the Bitcoin Bond Company.

What’s next for 1INCH?

1INCH’s trajectory has been on the upside since July 8 as buyers broke above the short-term hurdle of $0.32.

With a successful retest in place, the 1inch price could go on to target highs of $0.50.

Short-term, a break above $1 will encourage bulls to hunt the April 2022 supply zone around $1.77.

The nearly 80% spike this week also comes amid fresh DeFi momentum, with trading volumes across decentralized exchanges on the up.

The MACD indicator remains bullish. However, 1INCH is trading in the overbought zone with the daily RSI at 78.

As such, currently trading at $0.37 means 1INCH sits at a critical pivot zone.

Resistance levels at $0.37, $0.39, and $0.42 are the immediate hurdles.

If bulls break these barriers, a rally toward $1 or higher could unfold.

However, traders might want to watch for volatility, as a pullback to $0.30 could welcome bears back into contention.

As Bitcoin climbed to yet another all-time high above $123,000 on Monday, analysts at brokerage and research firm Bernstein reiterated their bullish outlook for the cryptocurrency, forecasting a prolonged market upcycle that could take Bitcoin to $200,000 by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

In a note to clients released Monday, the analysts—led by Gautam Chhugani—characterised the current bull market as “long and exhausting,” driven not by retail speculation but by deep institutional involvement, a clearer regulatory landscape, and foundational shifts in how digital assets are integrated into the global financial system.

“Our conviction in blockchain and digital assets has never been higher,” the analysts wrote, underscoring their confidence in a structurally different and more sustainable rally compared to past cycles.

Institutional flows replacing retail speculation

The analysts highlighted that this cycle stands apart from previous ones due to the dominance of institutional adoption, a point underscored by the rapid rise of spot bitcoin ETFs, which now hold over $150 billion in assets under management.

According to Bernstein, BlackRock’s IBIT ETF alone accounts for $84 billion of that total.

They also pointed to growing corporate treasury allocations — such as Strategy’s ongoing Bitcoin accumulation — as further evidence of a structural allocation trend that could support continued price appreciation toward the firm’s $200,000 target.

Bitcoin will continue to emerge as the world’s hard-money reserve asset, Bernstein wrote.

Regulation expected to accelerate US adoption

Bernstein expects regulatory clarity in the US to be a major catalyst going forward.

The firm said two pending legislative efforts — the CLARITY Act and the GENIUS Act — could help define jurisdictional boundaries between the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, while also establishing guardrails for stablecoins.

Such progress, the analysts argue, would position US platforms like Coinbase, Robinhood, and Circle as leading regulated entities in the crypto ecosystem, enabling wider participation from institutional investors.

Further, Bernstein said regulatory clarity would help reshore crypto trading activity, currently fragmented across offshore venues, and allow for the establishment of a US-based derivatives market for crypto futures and options.

Tokenisation and stablecoins seen as structural growth drivers

Beyond bitcoin, Bernstein expects broader blockchain adoption to be fueled by the tokenization of real-world assets — including money markets, equities, deposits, and credit.

This evolution would enable onchain capital markets offering instant, 24/7 settlement and programmable financial instruments, they said.

The analysts added that stablecoins, already approaching a $250 billion market, are playing a growing role in cross-border B2B and remittance payments.

Over time, they expect stablecoins to expand into mainstream retail and commercial payment systems, supported by improving compliance frameworks and distribution infrastructure.

Wallet adoption, currently estimated at around 50 million globally, could increase sharply as banks and businesses integrate blockchain-based systems, Bernstein said.
