Strategy’s September 25 proposal covers STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD. Under the proposed amendments, each calendar day, including weekends and holidays, would be a dividend record date. Payment would follow on the next business day.

How the proposed schedule would work

Friday: The daily record-date cycle applies as usual.

Saturday and Sunday: The record-date calendar continues even though markets are closed.

Next business day: The related payment would be made, subject to the board declaring the dividend and the amended terms taking effect.

The proposal does not change the stated dividend rates or the total regular dividends payable, according to Strategy’s preliminary proxy. STRF, STRK and STRD currently pay quarterly, while STRC pays twice monthly. The company wants all four to use the same daily record-date framework.

The practical aim is to make dividend timing less important

Investors in income securities often pay attention to distribution dates. Trading around those events or waiting to reinvest a payment can matter more when dividends arrive only every few months.

Strategy says daily entitlement could make those timing effects smaller, give investors quicker access to distributions for reinvestment and support more efficient trading. Those are the company’s objectives, not results the proposal can prove in advance. Daily scheduling cannot guarantee tighter spreads, deeper liquidity or steadier prices.

STRC provides the closest comparison. Strategy shifted that variable-rate preferred stock from monthly to semi-monthly dividends in June, with liquidity and price stability among its stated goals. The new vote would shorten the cycle again and apply it to the three quarterly-paying series.

One calendar, four very different preferred stocks

The proposal makes the payment timetable more consistent. It does not make the four securities economically interchangeable.

STRF

STRF is Strategy’s senior-most preferred series and carries a fixed 10% annual dividend rate. A daily calendar would not alter its seniority or fixed-rate terms.

STRK

STRK has an 8% fixed annual dividend rate and can be converted into Strategy common stock under its existing terms. That conversion feature remains separate from the dividend proposal.

STRD

STRD also has a stated 10% annual rate, but its regular dividends are non-cumulative. If one is not declared, it does not build up as an unpaid balance. Moving to daily record dates would not change that feature.

STRC

STRC’s rate is variable. Strategy adjusts it with the stated aim of encouraging the shares to trade close to their $100 stated amount. The proposed schedule would not turn STRC into a fixed-rate instrument or remove the company’s ability to set its future rate.

Common shareholders control the vote

Although the amendments concern preferred shares, Strategy’s common shareholders hold the vote. The preliminary proxy says holders of STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD are not entitled to vote on the proposals.

Approval requires support from holders of a majority of Strategy’s outstanding common-stock voting power, rather than a majority of votes cast at the meeting. That is a meaningful threshold: abstentions and uncast shares effectively count against passage.

Why this matters to Strategy beyond dividend dates

Strategy is presenting the change as part of a broader effort to make its preferred shares easier to trade and more appealing to income-focused investors. If that works, the company could have a more flexible preferred-equity market to draw on in the future.

That is the link to Strategy’s Bitcoin model. The company has used common stock, debt and preferred shares as funding tools for Bitcoin purchases and other corporate purposes. This vote, however, does not raise new money and does not announce another Bitcoin acquisition. It concerns the operating terms of securities Strategy has already issued.

The dates to follow

October 5: Strategy expects to file its definitive proxy and open voting.

October 28: Common shareholders are scheduled to meet and vote.

November 1–2: Proposed first daily record and payment dates for STRC.

January 1-4: Proposed first daily record and payment dates for STRF, STRK and STRD.

The later dates apply only if shareholders approve the amendments, the certificates become effective and Strategy’s board declares the relevant dividends. The October vote will decide whether the four tickers move to a daily calendar; their rates, seniority, conversion rights and declaration terms will still have to be assessed one security at a time.

Key Takeaways

Initial support covers five named digital assets.

The service targets institutions, not retail customers.

Custody includes transfers but not announced trading.

Crypto lacks normal deposit-guarantee protection.

The bank will operate the wallets for its clients

Crypto custody is the safekeeping and management of the private keys that control blockchain assets. A company may be able to see its Bitcoin balance onchain, but it cannot move that Bitcoin without access to the corresponding keys.

Under the service announced by Deutsche Bank, the bank will manage wallets and private keys on behalf of its clients. Those clients will be able to hold supported assets and instruct the bank to transfer them to third parties.

Companies using the service would not need to develop their own custody system, protect recovery material or create the technical process for signing blockchain transfers. The bank would manage that access infrastructure on their behalf.

The initial service is intended for customers of the bank’s Corporate Bank and Investment Bank in Europe. Potential users include companies, asset managers, hedge funds, brokers, custodians and sovereign institutions. Applicants will still need to meet its onboarding, due-diligence and risk requirements.

The first five assets cover investing and settlement

The lender is starting with a broader asset list than some competing bank projects. Citi’s planned Custody+ service is expected to begin with Bitcoin, as we explained in our report on Citi’s institutional custody system. Deutsche Bank, by comparison, has named Bitcoin, Ether and three stablecoins for its initial rollout.

It plans to begin with Bitcoin and Ether, along with USDC, EURC and EURAU. The first two are volatile crypto assets, while the other three are stablecoins or e-money tokens designed to track traditional currencies.

That mix gives the service two practical roles. Bitcoin and Ether can be held as investments or used within blockchain applications. For corporate clients, the stablecoins may be more relevant to settlement and treasury transfers than to long-term investment, although no initial client use cases have been identified.

The bank may expand the list according to client demand, provided each addition passes its product-approval, risk-management and regulatory processes. Tokenized financial instruments are also on the roadmap. Their inclusion would extend the service to blockchain-based representations of securities or other conventional assets.

Supporting an asset for custody, however, does not mean the bank will provide a market for buying it.

Clients will still need a separate trading venue

The service will safeguard assets and process client-authorized transfers. The announcement did not include a venue for buying and selling crypto, and the product does not include retail accounts, staking, lending or yield.

Clients would still need another route to acquire the assets before placing them in custody. Any later addition of trading or direct connections to execution venues would be a separate expansion of the current plan.

Details that have not been disclosed

Expected processing times for client transfers

Insurance and the legal treatment of client assets

Security is built around layered approvals

Allowing one employee to control an institutional wallet would create a single point of failure. That person could lose access, approve an unauthorized transaction or become a target for theft. Institutional custody instead distributes responsibility across several technical and operational controls.

Deutsche Bank says it will use secure key generation, hardware-based protection and separate warm and cold storage. Cold storage keeps key material offline to reduce exposure to internet-based attacks. Warm storage is more accessible when an authorized transfer needs to be processed.

The system will also separate employee responsibilities and require approval from more than one person. Redundant infrastructure, backups and recovery procedures are intended to preserve access when part of the system fails.

External technology companies will supply defined parts of the infrastructure, although the bank remains the institution offering the custody service to clients.

Price, network and counterparty risks remain

The custody arrangement can take key management off a client’s hands, but Bitcoin and Ether can still lose value. Problems originating from a blockchain, token issuer, trading venue or outside infrastructure provider could also affect assets held through the service.

A blockchain transfer may be difficult or impossible to reverse if a client supplies the wrong address, depending on the asset and network involved. Multiperson approval can reduce the chance of that mistake, but it cannot guarantee recovery after a transfer has been completed.

The announcement also warns about volatility, fraud, cyber incidents and failures involving other market participants. Crypto assets held through the service will not receive protection equivalent to the deposit guarantee available for eligible money in a bank account.

A project started in 2023 still depends on regulatory completion

Deutsche Bank has been developing digital-asset custody for several years. In 2023, it partnered with Swiss infrastructure company Taurus to work on custody for cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets, according to Reuters.

The latest announcement names the intended clients, first supported assets and security controls. The bank now refers only to selected external providers, however, and has not confirmed which companies will support the finished product.

It aims to launch the service in Europe this year, subject to completing the applicable regulatory process. No specific date has been supplied, and the available countries, assets and product scope could change before operations begin.

Once the service launches, its usage will reveal more than the announcement. Holdings concentrated in Bitcoin and Ether would point to an investment-custody business, while frequent stablecoin transfers or the addition of tokenized securities would indicate a broader role in institutional settlement.

The post Ripple and SettleMint Tackle What Comes After Token Issuance appeared first on Coindoo.

A bank can place a bond onchain and still be left with most of the work. It must decide who may hold the instrument, stop prohibited transfers, pay interest to the correct owners, process redemptions and preserve records that auditors and regulators can follow.

Ripple and SettleMint are now packaging those responsibilities into a joint offering for regulated institutions in Asia-Pacific. Their September 1 partnership connects Ripple Custody with SettleMint’s Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform, known as DALP.

Key Takeaways

Custody remains separate from platform operations.

DALP manages assets beyond initial issuance.

The technical connection predates today’s partnership.

No participating bank has been identified.

A coupon payment shows where the work begins

Take a tokenized bond. The bank first establishes its terms and identifies eligible investors. A later sale may require the buyer to be checked before the transfer proceeds. Coupon dates create another obligation because payments depend on an accurate holder record. Redemption brings the final test: removing the tokens while delivering the promised principal.

Those events require business rules, reliable ownership data and a controlled approval process. DALP is intended to coordinate issuance, compliance checks, settlement and servicing throughout that working life. Tokenized funds bring similar demands through subscriptions, distributions and redemptions.

Even a smooth technical workflow leaves legal questions outside the software. As Coindoo’s analysis of how tokenization is changing traditional banking explains, an onchain record does not automatically determine who owns the underlying asset or how that claim will be treated in court.

Inside the operational workflow, the most important boundary is simpler: one system may request a transfer, but a separate system controls whether it can be signed.

Where DALP ends and custody begins

A transfer between two approved accounts shows how that boundary works. DALP prepares the transaction, applies the institution’s rules and sends a signing request to Ripple Custody. The custody system checks the policies attached to the wallet, which may require specific permissions or multiple approvals, before releasing a valid signature. DALP can then track the transaction through completion.

SettleMint says the private-key material remains inside the selected custody environment. DALP can construct and route an instruction, but it cannot independently produce the signature needed to move the asset. Keeping those powers apart prevents access to the lifecycle platform alone from becoming signing authority.

The boundary is only as strong as the institution’s setup. A weak approval policy, a compromised authorized account or an improperly assigned role can still allow a damaging request to pass. Banks must therefore decide who may initiate, review and approve each action rather than treating the integration as a security guarantee.

This signing model sits at the center of the joint offering, although SettleMint had already built support for Ripple Custody before the September announcement.

What actually changed on September 1

In a July 15 explanation of DALP 3.0, SettleMint identified Ripple Custody as one of the custody environments supported by its signing model. Its documentation also describes a Ripple-specific callback route that reports whether a custody request has been approved, rejected, allowed to expire or failed.

The connection could therefore exchange the information needed to pause and resume a transaction workflow before the companies announced their partnership. What changed in September was the commercial relationship: Ripple and SettleMint began marketing the existing integration as one institutional offering, starting in Asia-Pacific.

For a bank, buying a coordinated package could be easier than contracting separately for custody and lifecycle management and then connecting the systems itself. Whether that advantage survives procurement, regulatory review and production deployment remains untested publicly.

The Asia-Pacific launch has no named bank yet

Ripple already supplies custody infrastructure in the region. Coindoo recently reported that Kbank is deploying Ripple Custody infrastructure for institutional digital-asset operations in South Korea.

Kbank provides useful regional context, but neither company connected its deployment to DALP. The partnership announcement names no participating institution, live asset, completed issuance, transaction value, commercial contract value or production deployment date. It confirms that the package is being offered, not how it performs inside a bank.

The release is equally silent about the technology beneath any future issuance. It assigns no role to XRP, the XRP Ledger or RLUSD and does not identify a blockchain selected by a customer. Without that confirmation, the partnership is not an XRP adoption event or price catalyst.

What would turn the offering into evidence

A live deployment would be more informative than another description of the products. Useful evidence would include:

a named bank, exchange or market-infrastructure operator;

a live bond, fund, deposit or other instrument;

issuance, settlement or servicing volume;

the networks and settlement assets being used;

and measurable reductions in integration or reconciliation work.

The partnership may make the integration easier to buy but still a named production deployment will show whether it also makes tokenized assets easier to operate.

Key Takeaways

Pump’s full stack generated $4.82M daily fees.

Hyperliquid produced $2.37M in daily revenue.

Eligible fees automatically purchase and burn HYPE.

Both platforms monetise trading through distinct mechanics.

Pump’s reported PUMP buybacks reached $941,387.

Gross Fees Make a Misleading Headline

The headline numbers suggest Pump is pulling far ahead of Hyperliquid, but raw fee totals mask a clear shift in actual protocol revenue.

DefiLlama’s Pump dashboard showed $4.82 million in 24-hour fees across its full platform, combining Pump.fun, PumpSwap, and Terminal. Over the same rolling window, Hyperliquid generated $2.94 million. On gross fees alone, Pump wins by roughly 64%.

Revenue flips the script. Hyperliquid’s dashboard listed $2.37 million in daily revenue, beating Pump’s $1.84 million by $530,000 (roughly 29%).

Revenue is the cleaner metric here. Pump’s gross fee total counts funds passed directly to liquidity providers and token creators. Meanwhile, Hyperliquid’s gross fees include builder fees that bypass its Assistance Fund. Neither headline fee figure reflects what the protocol retains or routes back to token holders.

Scope also distorts the conversation. Isolating the Pump.fun launchpad alone yields just $1.50 million in fees and $1.15 million in revenue, making Hyperliquid look much larger by comparison. Looking at the full platform vs. individual product streams keeps the playing field fair.

■ Protocol Revenue vs Fee Breakdown

How Hyperliquid Converts Fees to HYPE Demand

HYPE hit an all-time high of $82.43 on August 22 before settling near $79.22. Its tokenomics design is central to that price action.

Hyperliquid’s documentation details how its Assistance Fund automatically converts trading fees into HYPE as part of L1 execution. That acquired HYPE is then permanently burned, taking it out of total circulation.

DefiLlama routes 99% of qualifying perpetual fees (minus builder fees) and 99% of eligible spot fees into this fund. Its 24-hour revenue and holders-revenue readings sit aligned at $2.37 million, providing a direct live metric for the value entering the HYPE buy-and-burn mechanism.

At $79.22 per HYPE, that daily flow equals roughly 30,000 HYPE. While actual purchases fluctuate with live execution prices, the core mechanic remains fixed: qualifying trading revenue creates steady buying pressure, permanently locking those tokens out of circulation.

Separately, HYPE paid in successful HIP-1 token auctions is also burned. Because this is an episodic deployment cost rather than recurring trading revenue, it isn’t included in the daily $2.37 million run rate.

Spot Tokens vs. Perpetual Risk

Pump is far more than a launchpad. Traders buy and sell tokens on its bonding curves from second one, continuing on PumpSwap post-migration. Its bonding-curve specs outline a 1.25% trading fee split between the protocol and token creators before liquidity transfers out.

Hyperliquid handles spot trading too, but perpetual derivatives are its real engine. Traders take leveraged long or short positions, settle funding, and manage liquidations without touching the underlying asset. Through HIP-3, third-party builders can deploy perp markets for equities, indices, ETFs, and commodities, running as USDC-margined contracts on Hyperliquid infrastructure via TradeXYZ.

Holding an Nvidia or gold perp on Hyperliquid isn’t equity ownership, it’s cash-settled price exposure backed by builder oracle rules. Pump users swap actual spot crypto tokens. This creates two entirely different business models: Pump monetizes token launches and spot volatility, while Hyperliquid extracts value from traders continuously repositioning leverage across broad markets.

Pump’s Own Buyback Machine

Hyperliquid isn’t alone in supporting its token. DefiLlama tracks $941,387 in 24-hour holders revenue for Pump, reflecting PUMP buybacks executed from on-chain burns across its products.

The mechanics differ significantly. Pump’s reported buybacks combine multiple product activities and don’t sum directly with its $1.84 million revenue figure. Hyperliquid’s holders-revenue figure mirrors daily revenue directly because tracking models assign the full qualifying Assistance Fund flow straight to HYPE holders.

The reality? Both protocols actively buy back their tokens. Hyperliquid simply routes about 2.5 times as much value into its holder mechanism ($2.37 million vs $941,387) and burns the acquired HYPE automatically.

A Sustainable Trend, Not a Liquidation Spike

Hyperliquid logged $6.84 billion in perpetual volume over the last snapshot, just 3% above its 30-day daily average of $6.65 billion ($199.5 billion total).

Liquidation data tells a similar story. Daily liquidations hit $55.06 million, comfortably below the protocol’s 30-day average of $78.5 million daily ($2.36 billion monthly total).

This proves the latest buy-and-burn volume wasn’t driven by a single liquidation cascade. Generating $39.74 million in revenue over the past month shows Hyperliquid’s buyback engine is backed by steady daily trading activity rather than short-lived volatility.

Pump took home more gross fees across its Solana ecosystem, but Hyperliquid generated more net revenue and directed a bigger slice straight into automated HYPE burns. While token burns aren’t the sole driver behind HYPE’s run to $82, the continuous, data-backed demand provides strong fundamental support.

Key Takeaways

Agent OS can give an approved AI application access to a dedicated Binance subaccount.

Users set the agent’s scope, including permitted products, available capital and the ability to revoke access.

Agents cannot withdraw assets to external wallets, according to Binance’s product page.

A withdrawal block protects assets from leaving the exchange; it does not limit losses from authorised trades.

Binance can see the resulting orders, while the user remains responsible for the agent’s prompt, logic and permissions.

Agent OS connects an application to an exchange account

Agent OS is infrastructure rather than a new trading strategy. Binance describes it as a standard connection layer for AI applications. Its initial Model Context Protocol integration provides market data, read-only account information and order placement for a designated subaccount.

In plain terms, the exchange executes the order while the external application supplies the instruction. Binance can monitor activity and the resulting orders, but it does not see the outside sources, reasoning process or prompt that led an AI application to make a decision. That division is central to the product: the agent may be technically connected to Binance, yet its judgment is formed elsewhere.

The launch supports tools including ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, according to Binance’s launch announcement. It gives developers a route to build trading assistants, monitoring tools and automated workflows without handling a user’s exchange credentials in the usual way.

The safeguard is a boundary around funds, not a guarantee against losses

Binance’s design puts the agent in a separate subaccount and gives the user control over permissions. The company says access can be revoked, and the Agent OS page states that agents cannot withdraw assets to an external wallet. Those are meaningful controls, particularly against an agent, or an application that has been compromised—emptying an account through a withdrawal.

They leave a different risk intact: authorised trading.

The practical lesson is simple: the subaccount balance becomes the agent’s real loss limit. A user who gives an experimental agent a small balance has made one strong risk decision before a trade is placed. A user who grants broad futures access and funds the account heavily has made the opposite one, even if the agent never makes a technical error.

A bad prompt can create a valid trade

Most concerns around AI trading focus on a dramatic failure: a hacked bot or a rogue model. The more ordinary danger is an order that Binance accepts because it matches the permissions the user granted.

An agent can misunderstand an instruction, rely on stale information, confuse an asset ticker, fail to account for slippage or open a larger position than the user expected. In a futures market, leverage compresses the room for error. The exchange may have processed the order exactly as instructed; the loss still belongs to the account holder.

Binance itself makes that point in its terms. It warns that AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, biased, synthetic or outdated, and says users are solely responsible for the prompts they provide and their investment decisions. The company also says its services are provided on an “as is” basis and that users should not rely on AI output as their only source of information.

For that reason, the first use case should be narrower than “trade the market for me.” Reading a portfolio, alerting a trader to a breach of a preset level, preparing an order for approval or executing a tightly defined rebalance is easier to audit than handing an agent broad discretion across volatile markets.

The useful controls are set before the first instruction

Binance Academy’s own guidance for AI trading tools recommends using a separate subaccount, keeping the balance limited and testing automated or leveraged workflows before using live capital. It also advises users to avoid enabling withdrawal permissions and, for some API-based spot and margin setups, to use IP whitelisting.

A sensible setup has a few non-negotiables:

Fund a dedicated subaccount: Treat that balance as capital that could be lost through a bad execution.

Limit product access: Avoid futures or margin permissions unless the workflow genuinely needs them.

Write measurable instructions: Specify the asset, size cap, order type, time limit and conditions for stopping.

Set a review point: Check the agent’s orders and revoke access after a test rather than leaving an unused connection open.

Keep a human approval step for complex trades: Automation is most defensible when it follows a rule the user can explain before the market moves.

That is a more grounded version of the debate over AI-managed investing. As we reported, interest in AI portfolio management does not automatically equal comfort with full autonomy. Many users may accept assistance with research or routine rebalancing while drawing a line at unconstrained execution.

Trading is only the first accountability test

Binance also positions Agent OS around wallets, payments and on-chain services. That expands the relevance of permissions beyond a single trade. The same questions, what can the agent access, what spending limit applies and how quickly can access be removed, matter when an application is asked to pay a supplier, move between services or manage stablecoin balances.

That is why stablecoins as an AI-native payment rail is a useful wider frame. AI can make digital money easier to use programmatically, but it also makes permission design part of the financial product. A smooth automated payment is helpful only when its scope and limits are clear before the agent acts.

Binance has made execution easier; accountability has not moved

Agent OS may make exchange automation more accessible to developers and traders. Its subaccount model, permission controls and withdrawal restriction help contain the damage from a compromised or poorly configured connection.

They cannot decide whether an agent should open a position. That responsibility remains with the user who funds the subaccount, enables products, sets risk limits and writes the instructions. The crucial judgment comes before the first AI-generated order reaches Binance.

Key Takeaways

The filing does not disclose post-sale cash.

June current liabilities exceeded assets by $87.6M.

Michigan investment could exceed $100M over time.

Its latest SEC filing says the repayment released the Bitcoin collateral pledged to Morpho and left the company without borrowings on the protocol.

The transaction removed a Bitcoin-backed debt exposure. It did not answer the larger question in Hyperscale’s filing: how the company will fund operations, existing obligations and its Michigan AI data-center plans over the coming year.

The sale ended Hyperscale’s Morpho exposure

Hyperscale used Bitcoin as collateral for loans on Morpho. To do that, the company exchanged Bitcoin for Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin, or cbBTC, then pledged the cbBTC to the decentralized-finance lending protocol.

At June 30, Hyperscale had $16.0 million in Morpho borrowings secured by cbBTC with a carrying amount of $25.4 million. After the quarter ended, the company received another $31.6 million in net proceeds from additional Bitcoin-backed Morpho borrowing.

After June 30: $31.6 million in additional net proceeds from Bitcoin-backed Morpho borrowing.

August 2026: 686 BTC sold for $43.4 million in gross proceeds.

After the sale: Morpho balances fully repaid and pledged Bitcoin collateral released.

It also does not report Hyperscale’s post-sale cash balance or its Bitcoin balance after the collateral was released.

This distinction is the point of the transaction. Bitcoin-backed borrowing can delay a sale by turning a treasury asset into collateral. It cannot determine whether the company ultimately has enough cash to service debt, fund operations and pay for new infrastructure.

The June balance sheet showed an $87.6M shortfall

The June 30 figures are a pre-sale snapshot, not Hyperscale’s current balance sheet after the August transaction. At that date, the company reported $114.03 million in total current assets and $201.66 million in current liabilities, leaving a working-capital deficit of about $87.63 million.

Cash and cash equivalents totalled $36.78 million, while restricted cash added $28.31 million. Restricted cash cannot be assumed to be available for general corporate spending. The company also held receivables, inventory, crypto assets and other current assets, so comparing cash alone with total liabilities would not give a complete picture.

In the same 10-Q, Hyperscale said its existing cash and presently available liquidity are not expected to cover anticipated operating requirements, obligations and planned capital expenditure for the following 12 months. Management said substantial doubt about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern had not been alleviated.

The Michigan project requires more capital

Hyperscale is preparing a phased deployment of about 20 megawatts of critical power capacity at its Michigan data center under a master services agreement with an AI infrastructure customer. The company expects spending on service areas, power modules and related infrastructure to exceed $100 million over time.

The timing and size of that investment depend on construction progress, equipment procurement, customer deployment schedules and financing availability. Those variables matter because the company is already seeking additional capital while carrying a June working-capital deficit.

A case study in the limits of Bitcoin-backed borrowing

Hyperscale’s filing is one company’s situation, not evidence that Bitcoin treasury companies broadly face the same outcome. It does show the limits of treating collateralized Bitcoin borrowing as a complete funding solution.

The Morpho repayment removed a specific debt and released collateral. The filing leaves three material questions unanswered: the company’s post-sale cash balance, its remaining Bitcoin position and the source of the additional capital it says it needs. Those are the figures that will determine whether the debt repayment meaningfully improved its financial position.

Hyperscale Data is a publicly traded data-center and Bitcoin-mining company that is shifting part of its Michigan facility toward AI computing, neocloud and colocation services. It has also used Bitcoin as collateral to raise funding through the Morpho decentralized-finance protocol.

Source review: All figures are drawn from Hyperscale Data’s quarterly report on Form 10-Q, filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. June 30 balance-sheet figures predate the August Bitcoin sale and Morpho repayment. The $87.63 million working-capital deficit is calculated as $114.03 million in current assets minus $201.66 million in current liabilities.
Key Takeaways

Jeonbuk will deploy Ripple Payments.

Business transfers settle within minutes.

The service runs around the clock.

XRP and RLUSD roles remain unknown.

Ripple now has three Korean deals.

Ripple announced its partnership with Jeonbuk Bank on August 18. The agreement will bring Ripple Payments to the bank’s business customers, including import-export companies, IT startups and online content creators.

Jeonbuk Bank becomes the first regional bank in Korea to deploy the payment service. The target is straightforward: cross-border payments that settle in seconds to minutes and remain available 24 hours a day.

A payment service for companies moving money abroad

Businesses that import goods, pay overseas suppliers or receive revenue from abroad often depend on correspondent banking. A payment can pass through several intermediary banks before it reaches its destination, adding processing time, fees and uncertainty around its arrival.

Jeonbuk Bank is the first regional bank in Korea to deploy Ripple Payments, replacing multi-day SWIFT transfers with near real-time, 24/7 cross-border settlement for its business customers. Our third Korean partnership this year, after Kyobo Life Insurance and Kbank, partnering…

— Ripple (@Ripple) August 18, 2026

Ripple says its platform gives Jeonbuk Bank a different route for those transfers. The bank will offer near real-time settlement to business customers, with payments running around the clock instead of relying only on banking hours.

The deal is aimed at companies with regular international payment needs. Importers and exporters need to pay suppliers and receive invoices across borders. Startups may pay remote workers, cloud-service providers or overseas partners. Online creators can receive income from global platforms and advertisers.

Fiona Murray, Ripple’s managing director for Asia Pacific, said:

“Regional banks play a vital role in the real economy.”

What changes for Jeonbuk Bank customers

Ripple Payments is designed to handle the operational work around cross-border transfers through one service. The official announcement highlights three changes for Jeonbuk’s business clients:

Settlement speed: transfers can complete in seconds to minutes.

Availability: the service operates 24/7.

Transparency: businesses gain clearer visibility into payment processing.

The announcement does not publish the first payment corridors, fees, supported currencies or a customer rollout date. Those details will determine which Jeonbuk clients can use the service and how it compares with existing bank-remittance products.

Jeonbuk Bank President Park Choon-won called the partnership a step in the lender’s digital-finance strategy.

“This partnership will become a new growth engine for the bank.”

Ethereum’s Hegota Could Give Privacy Apps New Building Blocks

The key question: XRP, RLUSD or another settlement route?

Ripple’s announcement does not identify the asset or currency used to settle Jeonbuk Bank’s transfers.

That leaves three possibilities open. The payment flows could use XRP, Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, or a fiat and stablecoin arrangement selected for each corridor. Ripple has not confirmed any of them.

The distinction matters because a bank adopting Ripple Payments does not automatically establish new transaction demand for XRP. It also does not confirm that RLUSD will serve as the settlement asset.

The partnership confirms the payment platform and its target users. The settlement mechanism remains undisclosed.

Ripple’s third Korean financial-institution deal this year

Jeonbuk Bank is Ripple’s third Korean institutional partnership announced in 2026.

Earlier deals covered different parts of the digital-asset stack:

Kyobo Life Insurance is exploring on-chain settlement for Korean government bonds.

Kbank is deploying Ripple Custody wallet infrastructure for institutional digital-asset operations.

Jeonbuk Bank is adopting Ripple Payments for cross-border business remittances.

Ripple has also expanded its regulated presence outside Korea. Ripple Payments Europe was added to ESMA’s MiCA register after receiving authorisation in Luxembourg. In Japan, RLUSD became the first foreign stablecoin approved under a new regulatory category.

Jeonbuk’s future announcements need to answer four practical questions: which countries the service will cover, which currencies it will support, when customers can access it and which asset settles each transfer.

Key Takeaways

Cash App balances can fund MoonPay crypto purchases.

Eligible users gain access beyond Bitcoin and USDC.

MoonPay, not Cash App, handles the purchase flow.

Wallet choice and network accuracy become the user’s responsibility.

MoonPay’s eligibility, pricing and asset rules apply.

Cash App is expanding access without adding a new token catalogue

Cash App has long been associated with Bitcoin, and its recent USDC feature gave eligible customers a way to move digital dollars across supported networks. The MoonPay arrangement broadens the range of assets a Cash App customer can buy without requiring Block to build native support for each new token, chain and wallet.

The distinction matters. A customer is not buying ether or solana through a new Cash App trading screen. They are using their Cash App balance to pay for a MoonPay transaction.

MoonPay’s official purchase page lists more than 100 supported cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, ether, solana, XRP, USDT and USDC. The final selection available to an individual customer can still vary by jurisdiction, payment method and wallet compatibility.

MoonPay also requires users to complete its own onboarding and identity checks. The service asks the buyer to choose an asset, provide a wallet address and review the purchase before paying. Cash App may supply the funds, but it does not replace MoonPay’s compliance process or transaction rules.

The purchase path changes after the Cash App balance is used

Cash App and MoonPay are handling different parts of the same customer journey. Cash App provides a familiar source of dollars. MoonPay is the on-ramp that converts those dollars into crypto and delivers it to a wallet.

That design gives Cash App a fast way to offer more choice while keeping its own crypto product focused. It also means that a customer who starts with a Cash App balance quickly enters a different environment, with different support, pricing and custody considerations.

The cleanest way to understand the partnership is as a bridge. Cash App supplies the funding rail; MoonPay provides access to the wider crypto market.

USDC inside Cash App is still a different product

Cash App’s USDC service should not be confused with a MoonPay purchase.

Under Cash App’s official USDC rollout, eligible users can send and receive USDC on Solana, Ethereum, Polygon and Arbitrum. But the app automatically converts incoming USDC into U.S. dollars, leaving the customer with a unified dollar balance rather than a standalone USDC balance to manage.

Cash App handles the sourcing, conversion and settlement behind the scenes. That makes USDC a payment feature inside the app, not a broader self-custody crypto experience.

MoonPay takes the customer in the other direction. Instead of converting crypto back into a Cash App dollar balance, it lets the buyer choose a crypto asset and send it to a compatible wallet. That can be useful for people who want to hold assets outside Cash App or use them across other crypto services. It also makes the wallet destination a far more important decision.

More assets mean more room for mistakes

Buying Bitcoin or receiving USDC through a familiar app can feel straightforward. Moving into a wider set of tokens and networks is less forgiving.

A user needs to confirm the asset, blockchain network and receiving address before placing the order. An ERC-20 token sent to an incompatible address, or a transfer made on the wrong network, may not be recoverable. Cash App itself warns customers that sending USDC to an unsupported asset or incompatible network can result in a permanent loss.

The same basic rule applies here: a payment balance may be familiar, but the transaction is still an onchain crypto purchase. Once the order is completed and the asset is sent to an external wallet, Cash App cannot reverse it simply because the user selected the wrong network or address.

MoonPay’s purchase guide says it works with non-custodial wallets and can help users obtain one at checkout if they do not already have one. That gives buyers more freedom over where their crypto sits. It also means the buyer, rather than Cash App, is responsible for securing wallet access and recovery information.

The final price will be set at MoonPay checkout

The funding source may be Cash App, but the crypto order is still priced by MoonPay. Users should not assume that Cash App’s fee structure for Bitcoin or USDC applies to a MoonPay purchase.

MoonPay lists general fees ranging from as low as 1% for certain bank-transfer purchases to as much as 4.5% for some Visa-card transactions. Those figures are useful context, not a promised rate for the Cash App option.

The available materials do not set out one universal Cash App balance fee. The relevant price is the quote shown by MoonPay before the customer confirms the transaction, including any spread, network cost or payment-related charge.

That is where the convenience of the partnership needs to be judged. Cash App removes one step from funding a crypto purchase. It does not make the underlying asset cheaper, safer or easier to sell later.

MoonPay is trying to sit behind more ways people move money

The Cash App deal fits MoonPay’s broader strategy of becoming infrastructure rather than relying only on its own consumer app. It can sit behind a wallet, a checkout page or another financial product while handling the conversion between conventional money and crypto.

MoonPay has recently taken that idea into AI tools as well. Its PayBox product lets ChatGPT and Claude initiate crypto transactions and other payments within limits chosen by the user. The product uses passkeys, permission scopes and spending caps to keep the assistant from receiving unrestricted payment authority.

The Cash App partnership follows the same logic from another direction. MoonPay does not need to own the customer’s main financial app if it can become the layer that turns that app’s balance into an onchain purchase.

Cash App has widened the door, not rebuilt the house

For users, the new option makes it easier to move from a Cash App balance into assets that were previously outside the app’s native crypto offering. For Cash App, it is a way to answer demand for more choice without becoming the direct provider of every token and wallet service.

The limits of the arrangement are just as important as the expansion. Cash App remains centred on its own Bitcoin and USDC services. MoonPay handles the wider asset list, the checkout process and the delivery of crypto to an external wallet.

That gives customers more ways in. It also makes it essential to understand where Cash App’s role ends and MoonPay’s begins before pressing “buy.”

Key Takeaways

Commodity Yield targets approximately 7% to 8% and opened with a $25 million deposit cap.

Depositors receive kicUSDC, representing their share of the vault and its accrued yield.

Withdrawals depend partly on loans being repaid, so immediate access is not guaranteed at every size.

The higher target return comes with offchain legal, operational and counterparty risks.

For users already moving USDC between DeFi lending markets in search of better returns, a target yield of 7% to 8% will immediately stand out.

Kamino’s new Commodity Yield vault offers that return by financing short-term commodity trades rather than lending against crypto collateral. Users keep an onchain position through Solana, but the money ultimately depends on commodity traders, banks, escrow agents, insurers and legal agreements operating outside the network.

That is the central trade-off. Depositors gain access to a form of institutional credit that is normally difficult for individuals to reach, while giving up some of the liquidity and transparency associated with automated onchain lending.

Kamino describes the product as institutional-grade credit brought onto Solana through its new Kamino Institutional Yield platform.

What Happens After You Deposit USDC

Users deposit USDC into the Commodity Yield vault and receive kicUSDC. That token represents their proportional interest in the strategy and reflects the yield generated by its underlying loans.

Kamino says the capital is deployed through a fund structure regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, or CIMA. The fund then finances short-duration commodity transactions.

Solana handles the deposit, vault accounting and ownership token. The borrowers, goods, escrow balances, insurance and repayment agreements remain offchain.

This means owning kicUSDC is different from lending USDC through a conventional DeFi money market. Depositors are exposed to the performance of a managed credit portfolio rather than a visible pool of crypto-backed loans controlled mainly by smart contracts.

How a Commodity Trade Produces the Yield

Kamino explains the process through an example involving a copper trader.

The trader agrees to buy copper from a wholesaler for $9 million and sell it to an end buyer for $10 million. The supplier wants payment before shipping, while the buyer pays only after receiving and inspecting the copper.

The trader needs temporary financing to bridge that gap.

Capital from the Kamino vault is provided through a special-purpose vehicle and fund structure. The money is placed in a segregated escrow account that the wholesaler can verify before releasing the shipment.

The copper is insured while in transit. Once it arrives and passes inspection, the escrow account pays the supplier. The end buyer later pays the amount agreed in the sales contract, allowing the trader to repay the financing with interest.

The interest paid by the trader becomes revenue for the vault and contributes to the return received by kicUSDC holders.

The transaction begins with an identified supplier, buyer and commercial margin. Even so, shipment delays, disputed goods, fraud, borrower failure or problems enforcing contracts can still interrupt repayment.

What Withdrawals May Look Like in Practice

Kamino says withdrawals can be completed immediately while the vault has enough available USDC in its liquidity buffer.

When redemption requests exceed that buffer, depositors may need to wait for outstanding loans to mature. The underlying money cannot always be returned instantly because part of it may still be financing goods that have not completed their commercial journey.

Someone withdrawing a small amount during normal conditions may receive USDC quickly. A larger request, or many users withdrawing at once, could create a queue until borrowers repay their loans.

Before depositing, users should check whether Kamino discloses:

The size of the vault’s liquid USDC buffer.

The average duration of outstanding loans.

How queued withdrawals are processed.

Whether redemptions can be paused or delayed.

Any fees charged when entering or leaving the vault.

This product is therefore unsuitable for money that may be needed immediately. A 7% to 8% target becomes less attractive if the depositor cannot tolerate waiting for repayment during stressed conditions.

Collateral Helps, but Recovery Can Still Take Time

Kamino says the loans are supported by physical commodities and/or cash held in 1:1 escrow accounts with tier-one banks.

Cash escrow can offer relatively direct protection because funds have already been placed with a bank. Physical collateral is more complicated. Goods may need to be located, inspected, legally seized and sold before lenders recover their money.

The value of a commodity can also change while a dispute is being resolved. Insurance may cover damage or loss during shipping without covering fraud, contractual disputes or every form of borrower failure.

“Fully collateralized” therefore describes the assets intended to support the loan. It does not promise instant or complete recovery in every default scenario.

The Main Risks Are Not Visible on Solana

Blockchain records can show USDC entering the vault, kicUSDC being issued and tokens moving between wallets. They cannot verify whether a shipment exists, whether the goods meet the agreed quality or whether an invoice is genuine.

Repayment may depend on:

Commodity traders and corporate borrowers.

Suppliers and end buyers.

Escrow agents and commercial banks.

Shipping companies, inspectors and insurers.

Fund managers, administrators and legal entities.

The Solana contracts could work exactly as designed while an offchain problem still delays or reduces the amount returned to the vault.

Jurisdiction adds another layer. The fund structure is based in the Cayman Islands, while borrowers, banks, goods and commercial counterparties may operate elsewhere. A dispute could involve several legal systems and take longer to resolve than an automated crypto liquidation.

Kamino says the vault will provide continuous portfolio transparency. For depositors, the useful details will be loan maturities, borrower concentration, collateral location, repayment status, overdue balances and completed recoveries, not simply the total value deposited.

Who the Vault May Suit

Commodity Yield may appeal to users who want USDC exposure to private credit and are comfortable evaluating risks that cannot be checked entirely through blockchain data.

It is more suitable for depositors who:

Can leave their funds invested through the duration of the underlying loans.

Accept that withdrawals may sometimes be delayed.

Understand that a stablecoin deposit is not the same as a protected cash account.

Are comfortable relying on fund managers, banks and legal agreements.

Can assess the vault through portfolio reports rather than onchain data alone.

It is a weaker fit for anyone treating USDC as emergency cash, requiring guaranteed immediate withdrawals or expecting smart contracts to manage every important risk automatically.

Why the $25 Million Cap Matters

Commodity Yield opened with a maximum of $25 million in deposits. That gives Kamino room to test its lending, reporting and redemption processes without taking unlimited capital from the beginning.

The cap also keeps the launch in perspective. It introduces a new type of credit product on Solana, but it does not yet show that commodity finance can operate at significant scale through the network.

The first completed lending cycles will provide more useful information than the headline yield. Investors will be able to see whether borrowers repay on schedule, whether withdrawals work during periods of heavier demand and how close the realized return comes to the 7% to 8% target after fees.

What the Product Adds to Solana

Most tokenized real-world-asset products have focused on government debt, money-market funds and the reserves supporting yield-bearing stablecoins. Kamino is bringing a different form of credit onto Solana’s distribution layer.

The blockchain makes it easier to deposit USDC, receive a transferable vault position and track ownership. The fund handles the commercial lending that cannot be completed entirely through smart contracts.

A successful first vault could lead to other private-credit strategies. Its importance will be determined by repayment performance, withdrawal reliability and sustained demand rather than the launch announcement alone.

Kamino is offering DeFi users a higher target return by moving beyond crypto-native lending. The price of that return is exposure to the slower and less transparent world of borrowers, banks, shipments and legal enforcement.

Key Takeaways

BNY plans to add staking to its Digital Asset Custody platform.

Galaxy will provide the staking infrastructure and help design the service.

The offering remains subject to regulatory review.

Supported assets, fees, withdrawal terms and launch timing have not been disclosed.

Galaxy and BNY announced on August 4 that Galaxy will provide the underlying infrastructure for the planned service and work with BNY on its design.

The offering is still subject to regulatory review, and the companies have not announced when clients will be able to use it.

What the Partnership Would Change for BNY Clients

Institutional investors currently holding eligible digital assets with BNY would be able to access staking through the bank’s custody platform rather than arranging the service separately.

Galaxy would supply the specialized infrastructure needed to participate in proof-of-stake networks. BNY would maintain the client relationship and connect the service with areas such as custody, fund accounting, tax reporting, payments and institutional reporting, depending on the asset and client.

Staking involves committing tokens to help validate transactions and secure a blockchain. The network distributes rewards in return, but the amount can vary with validator performance, network participation and the rules of each protocol.

For institutions, the main benefit is operational. Running validators, managing private keys and tracking network rewards internally can require technical systems and controls that many asset managers do not want to build themselves.

The BNY-Galaxy structure would divide those responsibilities between an established custodian and a company already operating blockchain infrastructure.

The Terms Will Determine How Useful the Service Is

The announcement leaves several practical questions unanswered.

BNY and Galaxy have not identified which cryptocurrencies will be eligible, how rewards will be divided, what clients will pay or how long withdrawals and unstaking may take.

Those details can vary substantially between networks. Some assets can be unstaked relatively quickly, while others may require clients to wait through protocol-defined exit periods.

Staking rewards should not be treated like interest on a bank deposit. Returns are variable, access to assets may be delayed and technical failures can lead to lost rewards or penalties on some networks.

Using a familiar custodian may simplify administration, but clients would still rely on Galaxy’s infrastructure and the operation of the underlying blockchain.

Regulatory Approval Remains a Required Step

The companies described the service as subject to regulatory review. That means the partnership announcement is not confirmation that staking is already available through BNY.

The final structure may also be shaped by regulatory requirements concerning custody, client disclosures, reward treatment and the separation of responsibilities between BNY and Galaxy.

Until that process is complete, the announcement should be read as a plan rather than a product launch.

BNY Is Taking a Different Route From Staking ETPs

Traditional financial firms are beginning to offer several ways for institutions to gain exposure to staking rewards.

At the end of July, Morgan Stanley launched Ethereum and Solana ETPs with staking. Investors receive exposure through exchange-traded securities without directly holding or staking the underlying tokens themselves.

BNY’s planned service is aimed at institutions that already own digital assets and keep them with a custodian. Rather than buying an ETP, those clients would seek rewards from the tokens held through BNY’s platform.

The distinction matters. An ETP investor owns a security whose value is linked to the underlying assets and rewards. A custody client owns the digital assets directly and needs the custodian to handle the operational and reporting requirements around staking.

BNY’s proposal would therefore add a new function to its digital-asset custody business, but its practical value cannot be judged until the companies disclose the supported networks, costs, withdrawal rules and treatment of validator risk.
