Interview with Ian Manson, Storyboarding and World Builder at JustAGame 9

Dear Ian, thanks for taking the time to join me in this interview to educate our community on JustAGame. Can you give us a brief introduction to you? What is your story, dating back as far as you wish?

Traditionally I am a filmmaker or storyteller. I started life as a photographer and just became more and more curious about how images can take you on a journey. I guess the natural evolution for me was to make films. I have been really lucky and worked with some amazing people who have helped to steer me to this point.

My most recent projects have been “The Final 45” which is a WW2 psychological thriller set in occupied France in 1943. My Documentary “United in Lockdown” is in the final stages of post-production. And “In Circles” is a drama set in the clandestine world of crop circle makers.

Why did you get involved in the cryptocurrency industry, and where do you think the industry will be in 5–10 years?

Like most things in my life, the honest answer is by accident. I received a phone call and was asked, could I help with a storyline for a new NFT game. Once I was able to dive into it, I realized how expansive storytelling can get within a game. I’m excited to see the worlds we are going to build over time. I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey and I hope that the players will too.

But for the second part of your question. Where will the industry be in 5 or 10 years. I think it’s really where society will be in that time period. I fear that there will be those with crypto assets and those without. And I know which side of that fence I will be on. But for me the keyword is fear, I think that we need to think about that and how we can democratize and encourage adoption for all. The crypto world is not going away and I worry about those that will be left behind. That’s one of the reasons I fell in love with creating stories for blockchain games. I truly believe that blockchain gaming will offer everybody a chance to play and earn, regardless of their social status or where they are from.

That’s amazing. Now can you give us an introduction to JustAGame. and its history?

I joined the team in November 2021. All I can say is that in my time I have been part of a really professional outfit that is so passionate about the project that it is really quite humbling. I am very proud of what we are doing and am convinced that it will be a great success.

So how did you get started with Just A Game, and why? Early on, did you see an opportunity to fill a void in the market?

Yes. I think we all saw the opportunity. But for me it’s the values of the team. Yes there are rewards to be had, But it’s what being a founder can mean for ordinary people. When I say ‘founders’, I’m also including the early NFT holders that will be airdropped tokens after the IDO. We believe that early adopters should be rewarded and have a stake in the project. I love that we are playing on the blockchain and that our founders will have an important role in how we develop. I think that is what is really exciting. It’s what other people and partners are going to bring.

What has been the biggest challenges for you and Just A Game since you started the project?

It has actually been running pretty smoothly. Everyone knows what is expected of them and they all consistently deliver. I actually look forward to getting on the calls and making it happen.

That said, I am a bit of a technical luddite so I have been having to learn new stuff all the time and some of that has been a challenge. There have been tears before bedtime. But a lot of laughs too.

Understood. Now what has been your greatest achievement thus far, and what has been the biggest failure or setback personally or in the history of the company?

For me it was the challenge of writing in a completely new format and in a new style. There were times when I felt I wasn’t getting it right. But it is a very natural place to be in a creative environment. You have to push yourself to make things happen. I think that it took me a while to truly understand who our characters are. But once you get there, you kind of fall in love with them and it starts to write itself.

What is the next step for JustAGame in the next 1–2 years?

The next steps for us are the really exciting parts. We are going to have founders and other partners who are going to add so much to our community. They are going to bring ideas that we probably wouldn’t have thought of to the table. It is the fuel for the creative fire.

There are going to be other game providers joining our platform. The possibilities are almost endless.

I have started to write the second game, but by the time we get to the third, I am hopeful that this will really start to feel like a collaboration within the Just A Game community. To me that is what it is about. I really can’t wait

Where can people support you and JustAGame? Other than that, thank you for your time — any final words?

If for any reason people want to know about me just click on the IMDB link and you will see my profile there. The links to the website, twitter, telegram, and discord are listed below.

I guess my final words are. I feel this is an exciting project that has been created by a really talented bunch of people. They all have big track records and have done tons of amazing things in the past. When you look to get involved with a community check out the scope of it. But then the people behind it. I think that Just A Game all adds up. And more importantly, I hope some of you will help to steer our future.
