Telefonica established a partnership with a crypto company to allow the customers to pay in crypto assets to use the services.

Telefonica is a Spanish international telecommunications company which is headquartered in Madrid, Spain. This company is one of the biggest telephone operators and mobile network providers, not only in Spain but also in many other countries of the world. It provides fixed and mobile telephony, broadband, and subscription television services across Europe and the Americas, as per available information on Wikipedia. 

Recently Telefonica established a partnership with Bit2Me crypto exchange to bring crypto payment options for the clients to pay for the use of services.

With this partnership, Telefonica now accepts Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Circle’s stablecoin USDC as payment options, alongside the fiat payment methods. The backend payment operation work will be managed & operated by the partner crypto company Bit2Me. 

Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance crypto exchange, informed the crypto community about this new initiative of this largest Spanish Telecom company toward crypto, on Twitter.

Around two months ago, Moon Tech Spain received regulatory approval to provide services in Spain. Indeed Moon Tech Spain secured a Virtual Asset Services Provider (VASP) in this European country. This company is a subsidiary of Binance. 

At that time, Zhao said:

“MoonTech’s registration in Spain is an acknowledgment of the hard work and commitment of our teams to providing a platform that places users’ protection above all else.”

Earlier in June of this year, Barcelona-based airline Vueling established a partnership with crypto payment platform Bitpay to allow customers to pay in cryptocurrencies.

As per planning, Vueling airlines customers will be able to get airway tickets with crypto payment from January of next year.
