Thailand’s new government uses crypto wallet to distribute airdrop money

Thailand's new government uses crypto wallet to distribute airdrop money 12

Reportedly, Thailand’s government is using crypto & blockchain tools to distribute free money to the citizens.

Thailand is known for its better stance toward the crypto & blockchain sector. Over the years, Thailand’s government brought new rules for the crypto sector to prohibit bad actor’s activities away from Thailand’s jurisdiction. In the 2023 election, Pheu Thai scored a major win & established its new government in Thailand.

On 7 Sep 2023, Bangkok Post published a report and confirmed that the newly established government completed its promise via its airdrop program of 10,000 Thai baht (around $US280) to each citizen.

The government used the blockchain technology-powered crypto wallet but here it is unconfirmed whether the government used the existing crypto wallets or developed a unique crypto ledger for this airdrop program.

However, it is confirmed that funds can be easily traced by government agencies and the citizens are allowed to use them within 4 km of the permanent address range.

The majority of the people in the crypto community are supporting this initiative from the perspective of crypto & blockchain technology adoption.

This is not the first time when any government distributed free money to citizens via crypto wallet but earlier in late 2021 central American country El Salvador distributed $30 worth of Bitcoin to every citizen for signing up with the country’s national Digital Bitcoin wallet Chivo.

With the help of the free Bitcoin Airdrop campaign, the El Salvador government succeeded in bringing the citizens to Chivo wallet in a very short period.

All these types of crypto-focused activities at the government level show that crypto adoption is not only surging but also the government & government agencies are considering cryptocurrencies as a better option to bring banking services into the hands of the people.
