AMC Will Accept Shiba Inu And Dogecoin
The CEO of AMC, Adam Aron, just announced that Bitpay will be live for AMC online payments on their website by March 19th. The two top-dog meme coin armies can rejoice today, as Bitpay accepts both Dogecoin ($DOGE) and Shiba Inu ($SHIB).
However, Bitpay hasn’t always accepted SHIB, its actually a new form of payment that was recently added, and Adam Aron is the reason why.
In November of 2021, AMC theatres had already announced that they would be accepting Bitpay by the end of the year, which currently supported Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. But for the CEO of AMC, that wasn’t enough. He wanted SHIB to be a payment option for AMC too, and to see how the community felt about the matter, he took it to a twitter poll:

After the poll, Aron was able to convince Bitpay to begin accepting SHIB, solely upon his request. At the time, Aron reworked the timeline and confirmed that theaters will be ready to accept payment in the form of cryptos in the first quarter of 2022. With today’s announcement, he has lived up to his promise and Bitpay will be launched for online AMC purchases by March 19th, or maybe “a few days earlier”.
