Former US president Donald Trump’s presidency was full of controversies and division. He frequently used X (formerly Twitter) to share his opinions, which were often blunt. When it came to Bitcoin & cryptocurrency, Trump had mixed feelings. Before 2024, Trump was sceptical and called Bitcoin “based on thin air,” but he also saw its potential. Despite this, he didn’t push for strict regulations on it during his tenure.
On 21 May 2024, The official election campaign fundraising website backed by former US president Donald Trump is now allowing people to donate money in the form of Bitcoin & Ethereum.

Last week, Trump officially confirmed that he will accept donations in cryptocurrencies and also urged people to vote for Trump if they want crypto adoption in the US.
It is worth it to note that here Trump is not the only presidential candidate who is accepting Bitcoin donations, also there is another candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who has been accepting Bitcoin donations since 2023.
In the history of US politics, Senator Rand Paul was the first person who accepted Bitcoin for his presidential election campaign in 2016.
In 2020, Bitcoin donation was accepted by Andrew Yang and Eric Swalwell for their corresponding election campaign.
Last week Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson shared his opinion on the crypto-supportive stance of the former US president. He said that the current hostile situation for the crypto sector may help Trump to secure victory.
Hoskinson also urged crypto people to vote for Donald Trump, so that crypto sector can get better clarity over rules & laws.
